What is Vocalnoise?

VocalNoise LLC is one of the companies I have co-founded. VocalNoise is a company that specializes in creating augmentative communication through the internet using Web 2.0 technologies. Our goal is to provide an alternative to the high-priced augmentative communication devices that are currently on the market. Our one product, VocalNoise, is currently in the final stages of initial development. VocalNoise provides users the capability to customize an interface which will be used for communication. This communication can happen via picture, sounds, or both. The ultimate goal of VocalNoise is to empower our users and provide them with an easy and financially obtainable product.

My Role

As the founder and executive director, I provided strategic direction and general oversight for the company. I recruited key players for the future success of the company, including investors, marketing directors, and developers. I worked with a legal team to began the patent process of our product as well as the process to form an LLC. Also, I created a text to speech web service which plays an integral part in the design of VocalNoise. Some of the skills I utilized while developing and following through with my invention were:

studied and consulted with professional speech patholgists at Indiana University
created a web interface that can be easily manipulated by the end-user
created a text to speech voice service that was incorporated in the web interface

VocalNoise is still in the development stages, but nearing the point of user testing and implementation.
